Foster Coordinator

A Foster Coordinator’s primary role is to help foster families navigate their foster journey from intake through to adoption. Foster Coordinators wear many hats from supporting with transitional challenges – like potty training and leash walking – to providing emotional support when it’s time to say goodbye, and everything in between!

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Reach out to applicants to schedule an interview and update Foster Tracker with applicant details within 12 hours of assignment. Ensure Tracker is kept up to date.

  • Complete a 30+ minute interview (including virtual home visit) and reference checks within 72 hours of assignment. Ensure that appropriate documentation is completed and is uploaded to the drive within 24 hours of the interview.

  • Ensure that the Google Drive is up-to-date and accurate at all times and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.

  • Respond to non-urgent emails within 48 hours, and emergencies immediately. If unable to respond to emergency, coordinate with to ensure coverage by team.

  • Uphold HMR values during interactions with the public and other staff at all times.

  • Serve as primary contact for assigned fosters, ensure fosters comply with foster program policies and follow up regularly to provide support where necessary.

  • Support the Adoption Team with meet and greets, adoption events and foster bios.

  • Support the Vet Team with coordinating transport of dogs to/from appointments.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must have dog experience; basic knowledge of dog behavior/training required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.

  • Computer savvy; proficient with Google Sheets, Google Drive and Gmail. 

  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and work in a fast-paced environment.

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Approximately 1 hour per day; due to the training and involvement of the position, we ask that only those able to make a long-term commitment apply. 

  • Expected to move quickly to ensure we do not lose out on applications and must complete a minimum of one interview per week to remain on the team.
